Looking for some top tier fried turkey wings? These are it! Well seasoned from skin to bone, crispy with a crunchy skin, and meat tender as butter on the inside.Â
Ingredients
- 2.5 lbs Turkey Wings
- 3 Qts Water
- 2 Qts Vegetable oil
- 1–1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 Cup Cornstarch
- 2 Tsp Paprika
- 2 Tsp Parsley Flakes
- 2 Tsp Seasoning Salt
- 1 Tsp Adobo seasoning
- 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tsp Onion Powder
- 1 Tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1/2 Tsp Cayenne
- 1/2 Tsp Thyme
- 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
Binding ingredients - 1 Large Egg
- 1/2 Cup Hot sauce
- 2 Tbs Mustard
- 1/4 Cup Water
Instructions
- Add the turkey wings to a large pot, then add the water and preheat over high heat for 10 minutes
- Once the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to medium, and add the turkey wings.
- Cover with a lid, leaving a crack on the side, and boil for 1 hr and 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a small cup, combine all the seasonings.
- Add flour, cornstarch, and a quarter of the seasonings to a large mixing bowl and stir well.
- In another medium mixing bowl, add the water, egg, hot sauce, mustard, and another quarter of the seasonings and whisk until well combined.
- Once the turkey wings are done, remove them, pat them dry, and lay them on a baking sheet or a large surface.
- Season both sides of the turkey wings with the remaining seasonings.
- Coat the turkey wings with the seasoned flour, then shake off excess flour.
- Dip the turkey wings into the egg wash, and let the excess mixture drip off.
- Then coat again with the flour/cornstarch mixture and set aside on the baking sheet.
- Place a large pot over medium-high heat and add the oil.
- Let it preheat about 10 minutes, or until the oil reaches 375°F.Â
- Shake and pat turkey wings to remove any excess flour.
- Add turkey wings to the hot oil and fry 3 to 4 turkey wings at a time for 12 minutes.
- Once done, sit on a cooling rack.Â
Notes
- Check to see if the turkey wings are tender after 1 hour, the last thing you want is to overcook them because then you wont be able to fry them because frying them will dry them if if you boiled them for too long.
- You can deep fry the turkey wings using a large pot or fry them in a skillet. If you fry them in a skillet, you will use less oil.
