Description

A delicious, sweet, buttery, Cream of Wheat recipe. The perfect hot cereal for cold winter mornings. It also makes for a good late-night snack since it’s small and light on the stomach.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Cream Of Wheat
  • 2 Cups Of Water
  • 1/2 Cup Evaporated Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions

  1. Fill a small pot with cool water.
  2. Add the salt, and place over high heat.
  3. After 3 minutes, reduce to medium heat.
  4. Slowly pour the cream of wheat into the pot while vigorously stirring it with a silicone whisk.
*This prevents the formation of lumps*
  5. Stir in the milk, butter, and sugar.
  6. Let it cook for 2 more minutes while continuing to stir.

Notes

  • More flavor: I like to add another teaspoon of butter and a little more evaporated milk to my bowl of cream of wheat. That makes it even better. Yum!
  • Storage: I recommend eating it in one setting. If you choose not too, pour it into a bowl, cover it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and set it in the refrigerator.
  • Reheating: Reheat it in the microwave for 2 minutes. If it stiffened, you may want to stir in a pinch of milk to loosen it.
  • Lumps: I find that whenever I’ve reheated cream of wheat with a pinch of milk, little lumps would form. To avoid this as much as possible, stir the milk in with a whisk after reheating it.
  • More on the lumps: You still may find some little lumps forming but this is why I don’t like to save cream of wheat and prefer eating it in one setting.
