Description
Delicious fried cabbage made with onions, peppers & pork bacon.
Ingredients
- 2 Lbs of Cabbage
- 2 Pork Bacon Strips, sliced
- 1 Cup Onion, coarsely chopped
- 1/4 Cup Green Bell Pepper, coarsely chopped
- 1/4 Cup Red Bell Pepper, coarsely chopped
- 3 Tbs Vegetable Oil
- 1 Tbs Butter
- 1 Tbs Sugar
- 1–1/2 Tsps Salt
- 1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Onion Powder
- 1/4 Tsp Black Pepper
- 1/8 Tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the stalk, the very inner core, and the outer layers of the cabbage, then chop the remaining cabbage into small pieces.
- Slice bacon into medium size pieces.
- Chop up the onions and peppers.
- Place a skillet over medium-high heat, then add in the oil.
- After 1 minute, add in the bacon and vegetables and fry for 3 minutes.
- After 3 minutes, reduce the heat to medium and add in the cabbage, butter, and seasonings.
- Cook the cabbage for 50 minutes or until it begins to fry, and stir periodically.
Notes
Start by using 1 tsp of salt. If you feel you need more, add more.
