Tender, savory, soul food style Turkey Wings… Slow cooked in a crockpot with onions, peppers, and gravy. Succulent, hearty, and delicious. The perfect dish for a brisk winter evening.

Ingredients

  • 2 Lbs Turkey Wings
  • 1 Cup Onions, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Green Peppers, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Tbs Butter
  • 1/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 10 oz Campbell’s Cream of Chicken
  • 3 Cups Turkey Broth
  • 1 Tbs Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tbs Salt
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Ground Sage
  • 1/2 Tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1/2 Tsp Dried Rosemary
  • 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the crockpot: Turn the crockpot to high heat and close the lid.
  2. Slurry for gravy: In a big bowl, combine the turkey broth, flour, and cream of chicken, then stir well.
  3. Add the slurry to the crockpot, then sprinkle in the Rosemary and Thyme leaves.
  4. Preparing the Turkey wings: Place the turkey wings in a big bowl or dish and season well.
  5. Place a large skillet over high heat and add the oil, and preheat for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the turkey wings and sear on each side for 3-4 minutes, then remove and add them to the crockpot.
  7. Remove the oil from the skillet, place it over medium-high heat, then add the butter.
  8. Once the butter melts, add in the onions and peppers and saute for 4 minutes; add the minced garlic during the last minute to prevent burning.
  9. Crockpot instructions: Once done, add to the crockpot, and give everything a nice stir.
  10. Cover with a lid, and simmer until done, about 3-1/2 hours.

Notes

  • If you want your wings to fall off the bones, cook them for 4 hours.
