Tender, savory, slow cooker smothered turkey wings. Slow-cooked in a crockpot with onions, peppers, and rich gravy. They’re hearty, delicious, and the perfect comfort dish for a brisk winter night.
Ingredients
Turkey Wings
- 2 Lbs Turkey Wings
- 1 Cup Onions, coarsely chopped
- 1/2 Cup Green Peppers, coarsely chopped
- 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 Tbs Butter
- 1 Tbs Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbs Salt
- 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tsp Onion Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Ground Sage
- 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
Savory Gravy
- 1/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour
- 10 oz Campbell’s Cream of Chicken
- 3 Cups Turkey Broth
- 1/2 Tsp Dried Thyme
- 1/2 Tsp Dried Rosemary
Instructions
- Preheat the crockpot: Set it to high and close the lid.
- Slurry for gravy: In a big bowl, combine the turkey broth, flour, and cream of chicken, then stir well.
- Add the slurry to the crockpot, then sprinkle in the Rosemary and Thyme leaves.
- Preparing the Turkey wings: Place the turkey wings in a large dish and season well.
- Place a large skillet over high heat, add the oil, and preheat for 2 minutes.
- Add the turkey wings and sear on each side for 3-4 minutes, then remove and add them to the crockpot.
- Remove the oil from the skillet, place it over medium-high heat, then add the butter.
- Once the butter has melted, add the onions and peppers and sauté for 4 minutes; add the minced garlic during the last minute to prevent burning.
- Crockpot instructions: Once done, add to the crockpot and give everything a nice stir.
- Cover with a lid, and simmer until done, about 3-1/2 hours.
Notes
- If you want your wings to fall off the bone, cook them for 4 hours.
- If you want to cook the wings slowly, cook them on low for 6-8 hours.
