Description

Tender, savory, slow cooker smothered turkey wings. Slow-cooked in a crockpot with onions, peppers, and rich gravy. They’re hearty, delicious, and the perfect comfort dish for a brisk winter night.

Ingredients

Turkey Wings

  • 2 Lbs Turkey Wings
  • 1 Cup Onions, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Green Peppers, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Tbs Butter
  • 1 Tbs Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tbs Salt
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Ground Sage
  • 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper

Savory Gravy

  • 1/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 10 oz Campbell’s Cream of Chicken
  • 3 Cups Turkey Broth
  • 1/2 Tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1/2 Tsp Dried Rosemary

Instructions

  1. Preheat the crockpot: Set it to high and close the lid.
  2. Slurry for gravy: In a big bowl, combine the turkey broth, flour, and cream of chicken, then stir well.
  3. Add the slurry to the crockpot, then sprinkle in the Rosemary and Thyme leaves.
  4. Preparing the Turkey wings: Place the turkey wings in a large dish and season well.
  5. Place a large skillet over high heat, add the oil, and preheat for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the turkey wings and sear on each side for 3-4 minutes, then remove and add them to the crockpot.
  7. Remove the oil from the skillet, place it over medium-high heat, then add the butter.
  8. Once the butter has melted, add the onions and peppers and sauté for 4 minutes; add the minced garlic during the last minute to prevent burning.
  9. Crockpot instructions: Once done, add to the crockpot and give everything a nice stir.
  10. Cover with a lid, and simmer until done, about 3-1/2 hours.

Notes

  • If you want your wings to fall off the bone, cook them for 4 hours.
  • If you want to cook the wings slowly, cook them on low for 6-8 hours.
