Description

Delicious, strawberry lemonade made with fresh lemons, white sugar, and homemade strawberry syrup. The perfect beverage for family dinner and summer cookouts.

Ingredients

  • 4 Qts Spring Water
  • 11/2 Cups Lemon Juice
  • 2 Cups Sugar

Strawberry Syrup

  • 4 Lbs Strawberries
  • 2 Cups Sugar

Add-Ins

  • 6 Sliced Strawberries

Instructions

  1. Slice the strawberries in half and set 12 pieces aside for later.
  2. Add the strawberries to a large bowl.
  3. Add 2 cups of sugar and toss until fully coated.
  4. Place in the refrigerator for 1 hour to macerate.
  5. Place a large pot over high heat.
  6. Add 4 quarts of water.
  7. Preheat until it comes to a rolling boil, about 12-15 minutes.
  8. Remove from the heat.
  9. Meanwhile, slice 6 lemons in half.
  10. Extract 1 cup of lemon juice using a citrus juicer.
  11. Pour the lemon juice into a pitcher.
  12. Add the lemon pulp
  13. Add the sliced strawberries.
  14. Add 2 cups of sugar.
  15. Pour in the warm water, then stir well.
  16. Mash the strawberries to release the syrup.
  17. Place a strainer over a bowl.
  18. Pour the syrup into the bowl through the strainer.
  19. Pour the syrup into the pitcher.
  20. Stir well and refrigerate to chill.

Notes

  • If you’re short on time, skip boiling the water. Make sure to stir the sugar in for 1-2 minutes until it’s well dissolved in the water.
  • I would recommend boiling the water if you’re using spigot water and don’t have any spring water on hand.
  • Before adding the syrup to the pitcher, make sure to scoop out any thick, fuzzy film that may have risen to the top.
