Heeeeey, PBJ’s… today I’m gonna share one of my favorite recipes with yall. I love this recipe because it isn’t a guilty pleasure. Lol!

Not only is it extremely delicious and easy to make but it’s pretty healthy as well, and yall know Philly boy jay isn’t known for creating healthy recipes but listen, I’m working on that and will post more pretty soon!

But since I’ve made it my business to live a more healthy lifestyle recently, what better way to start than to change the things I put in my body and create a fiya healthy salmon recipe?

Is this a healthy recipe?

Now a few subscribers asked me was this gonna be a healthy recipe before I posted it because they were aware that I was going to be creating a salmon recipe.

I wouldn’t say it’s completely healthy because I do use butter to make the sauce but as I always tell you guys, you can customize my recipes to your liking. So feel free to exclude or reduce the butter if you on that healthy living type of time. Lol!

About the salmon skin

I always loved salmon fillets, especially with the skin on them! OMG!!! My homie use to cook salmon a lot because he was a healthy eater. He was in tip top shape, had a great physique, and took good care of his body.

He really monitored what he ate, was anal about what he consumed, and took his health very seriously. So the only meat he ate was lean chicken and turkey, and fish.

I remember him cooking salmon fillets one evening and what I noticed was he didn’t cook them for long but he seared the hell out of the skin and maaaaaan let me tell you…

The seasoned crispy skin was so darn good!!I begged bro to make me some more. lol I just couldn’t get enough of it… it’s my favorite part and I don’t want salmon now without the skin.

About the seasonings

Another thing that stood out to me was the small number of seasonings he used! He just sprinkled the Salmon with a pinch of salt and pepper.

I’ve learned over the years that using a lot of seasonings at once doesn’t always result in a good outcome!! Sometimes, less is best!!! Now, he didn’t top his salmon with any condiments and sauces or anything, but I like too!

Some people like to smother their salmon with a light bbq sauce, teriyaki sauce, and honey garlic glaze, but I think it taste best with garlic lemon butter sauce… MAN, O MAN, O MAN!!! Lemon butter sauce and Salmon go together like peanut butter & Jelly!!

About the cooking time

The key to cooking a succulent piece of Salmon is cooking it over the right temperature for a short period of time. There’s nothing worst than chewy dry Salmon, which is the result of overcooking it.

This is probably the most common mistake I find people make when cooking salmon, especially in a skillet. Fish, like chicken, doesn’t require a lot of cooking time.

Tenderness and doneness

So to keep your salmon juicy and tender, make sure not to cook it over 7-8 minutes (4 mins per side). Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the salmon but it shouldn’t take more than 10 mins to get done to the center.

One last thing I want to talk about is how to tell when the salmon is done. First off, doneness is a preference!!! You may like your salmon rare or medium well done like myself.

But for those who like theirs well done, a way to check for doneness is by the change in color of the sides. As the salmon cooks, you’ll begin to see a change in color on the sides.

It will go from pink to peach about 1/2 way to the top of the salmon. Then when you turn it over and continue cooking it, you’ll do so until the whole side of the salmon is peach in color.

This is a good way to measure its doneness. But you can always check the center with a thermometer. Fish is done when it reaches an internal temperature of about 140-145. You will see what I’m saying if you click and watch the video provided below.

It’s best served with rice, in my opinion! It goes well with all kinds of rice; white, yellow, brown, etc. The recipe is available below so give it a shot and leave a comment letting me know if you like it!

Ok, enough rambling!!! Let’s get ready to eat. This recipe will become one you cook on the regular and a staple for you and your family because after you try it, you’re going to FALL IN LOVE! TRUST ME! It’s that damn good!!!!

Enjoy

Description

“Well Seasoned, juicy, tender salmon fillets topped and infused with garlic juice & lemon butter sauce”

Ingredients

2 Lbs Salmon Fillets
1/4 Cup Lemon Juice
2 Tsps Minced Garlic
4 Tbs Butter
4 Tsps Olive Oil
2 Tsps Parsley Flakes
1 Tsp Salt
1/2 Tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

1. Massage all sides of salmon fillets with salt & pepper.
2. Preheat skillet to medium-high heat (7), add oil, and preheat for 3 minutes.
3. After 3 minutes, place salmon fillets into the skillet skin side down and cook for 3 to 4 mins per side.
4. Once done, set salmon aside and remove oil from skillet.
5. Place skillet back onto the stove, this time over medium heat (5)
6. Add the butter, garlic, lemon juice (make sure you use fresh lemon juice, squeezed from an actual lemon), and Parsely Flakes, then stir in well.
7. Once the butter is slightly melted, place the salmon back into the skillet, simmer for 2 minutes, then turn off the heat. Scoop up the garlic lemon butter sauce and drizzle it over the salmon.

Notes

Cooking time may vary depending on the type of skillet and stove you’re using. I used a T-Fal skillet and an electric stove. If you’re using a gas stove the cooking time may be shorter. The size and thickness of your salmon may lengthen the cooking time as well so be mindful of this.
