This Spinach is tangy, tasty, and perfectly seasoned. Simmered in apple cider vinegar and broth with a splash of butter making them flavorful, juicy, and pleasing to your taste buds.

Hey guys, it’s ya boy Jay and I gotta admit… I’m pretty pumped to share this recipe with yall. Listen, I never liked spinach, NEVER!!! I probably ate it a handful of times my entire life.
It just didn’t agree with my picky, weird taste buds, and that always bothered me because spinach has a lot of nutrients I could benefit from. So there were times I actually wished I liked it. Lol!I
But if you think Delicious Frozen Spinach Recipe can’t taste as good as fresh, this recipe here will surely change your mind. Frozen spinach isn’t supposed to be this good folks but it is, so give this recipe a shot. It’s the perfect vegetable side dish to a delicious dinner.
Health benefits of spinach
Okay, so let me discuss some of the benefits of eating spinach and the particular nutrients it provides. Spinach is a great source of iron, which is good for anemic people like myself who get cold easily! Lol!
It’s a great source of calcium, which strengthens bones and teeth. It also contains nutrients that help to prevent asthma and cancer, both of which unfortunately run in my family.
I’m sure y’all can understand why I took an issue with my taste buds not getting along with Spinach now, right? Lol! I was missing out on a lot of health benefits simply because I hated the taste of it.
So, I decided to think of something I could eat with it or put in it to make it easier to stomach! I started by thinking of condiments and ingredients I could add to my spinach that would change the taste and make it more agreeable to my taste buds.
After a little experimenting, I found the perfect combination of ingredients that made eating spinach more enjoyable. I’m happy to say that spinach and I are besties now. Haha!
Why I created this recipe
I was in the freezer aisle of a supermarket picking up vegetables for other recipes I was planning to make this month, when the idea to create a frozen spinach recipe popped in my head.
I saw a bag of frozen spinach, just sitting on the top rack next to the frozen broccoli I bought, looking at me like a helpless orphan begging to be taken home! Lol!
That’s when I thought to myself, “I don’t like Spinach, but it’s important that I eat it, so let me buy a few bags and see what I can do with it.” Almost instantly, I started thinking of condiments I enjoy that might go well with Spinach.
Spinach with apple cider vinegar and broth were the game-changers. As most of you know, I’m a fan of vinegar, but I never added it to my spinach, nor did I realize how good it tasted with vinegar.
I think it’s the main reason this recipe is actually so popular. I say that because my mom tasted my spinach recently and asked, “You put Vinegar in this?” I said, “Yeah,” and she responded, “This is really good.”
That let me know that vinegar isn’t just a game changer for me but for everyone else, too. Lol! The flavor the vinegar and broth give the spinach is second to none! It came out so juicy, flavorful, and tangy.
The seasonings I listed below are seasonings you all have in your kitchen cabinets and are easy to find at your local grocery store. All the ingredients I use go perfectly with spinach, which is why it’s a joy for me to eat it now—which I can’t say was always the case! Lol!
I got the idea to use Apple cider vinegar when I was creating other frozen vegetable recipes, and it’s the best decision I could have made.
I thought if it tastes good in collard greens and green beans, I’m sure it will do the same for Spinach, and I was right! So now it’s a must-have whenever I decide to make spinach.

Storage and reheating
- How do you store spinach? Place it in a container like a Tupperware bowl, cover it tightly with a lid, plastic wrap, or aluminum foil, and store it in the refrigerator.
- How do you reheat spinach in the microwave: You can reheat it in a microwave by placing it in a microwave proof dish and heating it up for 2 minutes if it’s cold. Stir it half way through and if it’s still not warm, let it go for another 30 secs.
- How do you reheat spinach in a skillet: You can simply reheat it the way we made it, in a skillet. Place it over medium heat and simmer on medium heat, stirring periodically until warm. That should take about 5 minutes.
Frequently Asked Questions
- There’s a lot of juice left over? That tends to happen when you make this recipe using spinach that’s been in the freezer for a while. But the juice is fine! Just strain it or add it to your rice or noodles. Lol! The liquid just prevents the spinach from drying out.
- How to double the recipe? You can just double the ingredients. The cooking time will be longer but simply doubling the amount of ingredients is all you need to do to double the recipe.

Well, guys, I’m happy to say that eating spinach no longer feels like a task. I actually make it frequently now and look forward to eating it for dinner. A lot of folks don’t care for frozen vegetables because they say they’re bland and have no taste, which is partially true.
I think the reason for that is that they are in ice for a long time, which depletes the veggies’ natural flavor. By the way, you can use these same ingredients for fresh spinach as well. Anyway, guys, try this recipe and let me know how you like it in the comment section below.

Excellent, easy, quick and goes with many foods. Thank you just what I was looking for!
Delicious and so easy! I added some paprika and crushed red pepper, which took it up a notch in the flavor department. I’ll be making this again!
Turned out great taste just followed everything exactly. There was a bit more liquid than I am used to but using the right utensils we worked around that.
So glad you enjoyed it! The extra juice is important especially if you don’t plan on eating it immediately or have leftovers because the vegetables tend to dry out. You can always use a slotted spoon to strain it while plating it. Thanks for visiting and please come back for more recipes.🙏🏾❤️🫂

I’ll definitely do more healthy recipes next year God’s willing.
Do you take it out of the broth at the end or is the broth absorbed by the spinach?
Just scoop it out and serve. It’s ok if there is a little or a lot of broth left, although there shouldn’t be too much broth remaining and yes it does absorb some of the broth.
I love creamed spinach not wanting to take the time to make and found this. The flavors are excellent!! Thank you.
I made this to have on some pasta and it was great! I added a bit of olive oil and grated cheese on top as garnish. I was happy to find a way of making frozen vegetables taste great, thanks!
Jay you are the man! Who knew that you could make spinach taste this good? I followed your recipe, explicitly, and it blew my socks off. God bless you for spreading the word.
To double it do you really not double anything but the amount of spinach?
This was super tasty and couldn’t be easier! It’s so nice to have an easy (vegan-friendly) spinach recipe that’s ready in 10-15 minutes. It was a great side dish with roasted pork tenderloin, but would go well with just about anything. It’s very flavorful without having a particular spice profile, which makes it very versatile. Next time, I might reduce the broth to 1/2 cup, since there’s already plenty of water on the frozen spinach. But the extra liquid wasn’t really an issue— I just served it with a slotted spoon. Thanks for a quick and easy frozen veggie side dish!
This was sensational! Better than any frozen spinach I’ve ever made.
Thank you.
About to make now. My daughter loves spinach so I’m always looking for new recipes
Whew chile!!! You better come thru with this recipe! This is so darn good, thank you for this gem. No more bland frozen spinach!! Yum yum 😋!!
Nice flavor. I also added sliced almonds for a little crunch.
This is great side dish. I didn’t expect it to taste that good, but it sure surprised me. Very tasty. Thanks.
I am assuming that the broth is absorbed by the spinach and it won’t be soupy?
Also, on your photo, what do you have sprinkled on top? It looks like cheese but there’s no cheese in the recipe.
Easy to make and delicious. Will make again 💯
Was better than any other cooked spinach I’ve ever had. This makes cooked spinach tolerable for me. It never has been before. So, great recipe!
The most flavorful spinach I’ve ever made! I used vegetable broth and a dairy free butter alternative and it came out wonderfully. Loved the touch of vinegar. I will make this again and again. Thank you!!
My mom used can spinach she added garlic and white vinegar, didn’t like it when I was a kid but I like it at 50years later !!!
